7th grade science

Students in 7th grade science can be expected to expand their laboratory experiences to using instruments such as those used to gather weather information, computers and other technologies typically found in lab settings.

Areas of study for 7th grade science students include:

· the solar system

·

· weather conditions (such as hurricanes, tornadoes and tsunamis)

·

· simple machines

·

· physical v. chemical changes

·

· elements and the periodic table

·

· photosynthesis

·

· genetics

Further, students are expected to understand that science has a particular method for carrying out investigations, understanding how new conclusions are reached through the scientific method and that problems investigated using this method may or may not answer the original questions asked - in other words, science may not hold all of the answers to questions that we ask.
